I have Excel 2013 and I mostly use it for a database of the guest bookings.My problem is following: I would like to make the system count the difference betweeen arrival date (c2 for ex) and departure date (d2 for ex) by itself for every new guest input automatically (that is to say for guest b3 with arrival date c3 and departure date d3, to count the occupancy in e3).But, when I try to insert DATEDIF function, I cant get the result I want.
To go back to the example, i have a date in c3 as follows: 28.7.17 and a date in d3 as it follows: 18.8.17. I write in e3 DATEDIF(C3 which immediately shows as marked by excel, D3 which doesnt show as marked by excel at all, D). Try clicking insert function on the formulas tab to fix it, or. The C and D columns are formated as dates and E column as Number. When i try to use some other date format such as dd-mm-yy with dashes, I dont get a result either. I also tried to convert the table to range, but it doesnt function. The only solution that might be possible is INT but i find it difficult to apply manually for every new guest. Meanwhile, Ive figured out what was wrong with the whole thing - everywhere on the internet i saw that you should type DATEDIF (c3, d3, d) but instead you should write;). I dont know how I oversaw this error, and less do I know why the internet says one should write. Your regional settings are why you have to use semicolons instead of commas. I, for example, am from the U.S. The NO and YES work, but NOT NEEDED is not showing up.instead, YES is showing up for what.IF statement in Excel 2013 not working.
